Hong Kong Emerges as Hub for Pokemon Card Investment, Tokenized Funds
Hong Kong's financial sector is treating Pokemon cards as an alternative asset class, with rare cards traded via tokenized funds, per South China Morning Post reporting. Albert Cheng, business director for Hong Kong, Taiwan and North Asia at Azimut Group, said demand reflects a growing collector base and younger investors putting money into assets they relate to, not just short-term speculation. The report cites Logan Paul's 2021 US$5 million Pikachu Illustrator purchase, since resold for nearly US$16.5 million, as a marker of the market's rise.
